Helping Hands for Hurricane Helene Relief

We have partnered up with Overmountain Vineyard in Tryon, NC to provide aid and relief from the overwhelming devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in East TN, West NC, and GA. 

Partnered with local organizations (both in MS and NC), local churches, and countless individuals in between, we are raising funds and collecting items for select immediate needs and long term re-stabilization efforts. This is exactly where your funds or items will be allocated:

-Immediate Needs:

Water - bottled water is currently in abundance, but it lacks the practicality of being used for things such as cooking or flushing toilets. Big Bottom Milk Company in Lake Lure, NC is bottling water by the gallons so that families have a faster, more accessible, and more practical way of using water for a multitude of purposes. Funds will be sent to this farm to continue their operations in providing this vital need. 

 Upcoming Needs

In the months to come when aid starts to dwindle and the world starts to forget about these communities, the needs of these individuals will still be there and will still continue to grow. What does the future of these communities look like and what will these needs be? Your funds and items will be used for the following two extended relief efforts: 

#1 Christmas 

These communities have lost everything. The people in these communities are unable to work and earn a living during these times on top of it! Here in just a few short months, Christmas will occur and the children in these communities should not have to sit this one out. We are providing Christmas boxes for children that will be easily distributed and compact so that they can be carried and easily stored no matter if they have a home or are still in a shelter. Currently geared towards 3-10 years old, as we receive more information from affected areas, we will create boxes for older children. We have found a way to provide all of these items for $60 per child!! 
Each box will include the following items:

• Winter hat & gloves
• 6-7 pairs of socks
• sunglasses
• 4 bars of soap & 2 washcloths 
• 3 toothbrushes & toothpaste
• girls: hair bows, ponytails holders & barrettes
• hairbrush
• fun themed bandaids
• 3 coloring books
• 1 pk of crayons
• 1 pk of playing cards; doubled with animal facts
• 5 matchbox cars (boys); babydoll (girls)
• small stuffed animal
• assorted stickers
• 8 colors of playdoh & complete playdoh tool set
• I Spy find and seek book 

#2 Starting Over Kit - regaining stability 

We are creating large care package boxes that will be visually inventoried for easy and quick distribution to individuals who moving into their new living situations. Boxes will be created to different needs. For example: individual, single family of 3,4,5….

These boxes will contain items that any person would need to move into an empty space such as, but not limited to the following: 

• Dish set
• utensils
• linens
• pillows
• hot plate
• pots & pans
• wash clothes & towels 
• cleaning supplies
• air mattresses
