Black Currants CONSORT - Black. Winter hardy. Excellent source of vitamin C Makes great preserves and wine flavoring. Plant has a musky scent and is resistant to White Pine Blister Rust. 


Also known as Johannis Berry or Ribes. Known for staving off the effects of dementia or offering anti-inflammatory support to reduce the effects of rheumatoid arthritis. High omega-6 content, abundance of vitamin C, iron, and calcium, potential anti-aging properties, and even their association with cancer research. Can 
help to give your immune system a boost, allowing your body to fight infection and viruses more effectively.

How to care for upon arrival:

Remove Currant plants from shipping box immediately and untie the bundles. Store Currant plants in a cool moist place. Keep roots moist at all times. Do not over water.

Soil:

Requires a soil pH of 5 to 8. Plants will grow in any well-drained soil.

Do not plant in any media other than soil.

How to Plant:

 

The top root on the cane should be 1” below the ground level. Plants should be spaced 2’ apart. Press soil firmly around the roots and water well. Water regularly. Do not over water. Do not trim roots.

DO NOT MULCH around our plants or fertilize plants until after roots are established. Do not plant or pot in any media containing bark or wood chips. We do not recommend potting in containers smaller than one gallon.

Fall or Early spring (April - May)

Where to Plant:

Full Sun

*In warmer climates plant will appreciate afternoon shade. Temperatures over 95F affect production and leaves will suffer from sunburn.
